What can and cannot be collected
Garden waste collection can dispose of:
- grass cuttings
- hedge trimmings
- leaves
- small twigs and branches up to 3 inches (7.5 cm) thick
- dead plants and cut flowers
We cannot collect:
- soil
- stones and rubble
- food waste
- pet litter
- wood or sawdust
Home composting
Garden and food waste can be composted at home, to produce a nutrient-rich and peat-free compost for your garden.
You can use a compost bin, compost heap or hot composter for:
- grass cuttings
- dried leaves
- twigs
- vegetable peelings
You can use a hot composter or food waste digester for:
- meat
- fish
- dairy
- bones
- cooked food waste
