Buildings that fall into serious disrepair can be dangerous. This includes those affected by a sudden fire, storm, explosion or vehicle impact.

What happens next
Once we receive a report, we will inspect the building and decide whether to:
- take immediate action
- contact the owner and agree a timescale for making the property safe
This may be enforced by a court order if the owner fails to take action.
Emergency works
If emergency work is required, we will work with the fire, police and highways agency to:
- erect fencing
- close roads
- organise demolition works if appropriate
