Archaeology

Surrey County Council has identified a number of Areas of High Archaeological Potential within Woking.

Within these areas there is good reason to expect significant finds during any disturbance of the ground. Applicants seeking planning permission may be required to undertake a prior assessment of the possible archaeological significance of the site and the implications of their proposals. They may be required to submit a desk based assessment to accompany any application submitted, in accordance with our validation checklist.

Information about archaeological areas in Surrey is available on the Surrey County Council website, including an interactive map.
