Health and safety at work

The smoke-free workplace, accidents in the workplace, cooling towers.

What we do

We can investigative health and safety issues and enforce legislation in a workplace.

This is to protect the health and safety of:

  • employees
  • people who are self-employed
  • members of the public visiting the workplace

Investigating health and safety complaints

We always sensitively investigate complaints about working conditions. We do not reveal the details of the person who has complained.

Make a complaint

Contact us to make a complaint:

Email: environmental.health@woking.gov.uk

We may look at the:

  • level of health and safety training
  • adequacy of structural and environmental conditions
  • safety of equipment

We need to be satisfied that any hazards have been identified and the associated risks adequately controlled.

When work practices or conditions fall short, we look to resolving the situation by giving advice to the employer. If this is not possible, or if the danger poses a risk of serious personal injury, we will take formal action.

Investigating workplace accidents

We also investigate accidents at work and events viewed as dangerous.
