How to apply
To apply, you will need your:
- Council Tax reference number – this is shown in the top right-hand corner of your bill or can be found in your online account
- home address
- name and contact address – if different to your Council Tax bill
- phone number or email address
Depending on your personal circumstances, you may also need your:
- National Insurance number
- employment details including your payroll number, business name (if self-employed) or benefit details
- bank details – if you pay by Direct Debit or want to set up a Direct Debit
- proposed start date for payments – this must be within the next 7 days
Who can apply
You can ask us to consider a repayment arrangement if:
- you’re struggling to keep up with your usual monthly Council Tax instalments
- have received a reminder, second reminder or arrangement reminder
- have received a final notice or arrangement default notice
- have received a court summons
- have received a letter informing you of a liability order against you
Who cannot apply
If your unpaid debt has been moved to the next stage of our recovery process, we will refuse your repayment arrangement application.
This applies to:
- bailiff action (also known as ‘enforcement agent’)
- deductions from your salary or wages (known as ‘attachment of earnings’)
- deductions from your welfare benefit
