Developer contributions

How we collect money from developers during the planning application process to pay for infrastructure projects, including Section 106 contributions and the Community Infrastructure Levy.

Developer contributions

Developer contributions refers to how we collect money from developers through the planning application process. We do this mainly through:

  • the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)
  • planning obligations, commonly referred to as ‘Section 106’ or ‘S106’ obligations after Section 106 of the Planning Act

Developer contributions allow us to secure both financial and non-financial contributions (including affordable housing), or other works.

With these contributions we can provide infrastructure to support development and address the impact of development.
