You only need to apply for planning permission to drop the kerb outside your property if we have already confirmed that you do need permission.
Submit your planning application using the national Planning Portal. You will need to log in or register for a new account.
Submit a full planning application on the Planning Portal
You must sign ‘Certificate B’ on the application form if the dropped kerb is on a public highway. A public highway is a publicly maintained road.
You must then serve notice to Surrey County Council.
As part of your application, you will be asked to include:
- a location plan – you must indicate the dropped kerb within a red line on the location plan
- a block plan – you must identify the location and extent of the proposed dropped kerb
Fees and payments
Your fee will be calculated as part of the application process on the Planning Portal. You will be asked to pay when you submit your application.
In most cases the correct fee category is ‘Construction of car parks, service roads and other means of access where the development is required for a purpose incidental to the existing use of the land’.
You can calculate your planning fee beforehand to give you an idea of how much you're likely to have to pay.
