What happens if the police object to your personal licence application and how you can appeal a decision.
Once we receive your application, the police have 14 days to object on the grounds of the prevention of crime and disorder.
If the police do object, a hearing of the Licensing Committee, which consists of 10 elected local authority members, must then be held within 20 days. This unless all parties agree that a formal hearing is not necessary.
You can appeal to the magistrates' court against our decision to refuse a licence, within 21 days of being notified of the decision and the grounds for it.
