Late temporary event notices

How to apply for a late temporary event notice, which can be issued up to 5 days before an event.

We can issue a late temporary event notice up to 5 working days, but no earlier than 9 working days, before your event.

What late TENs are used for

Late TENs are intended to be used:

  • by premises users
  • for reasons outside of your control, for example, changing the venue at short notice
  • in exceptional circumstances

A late TEN given later than 5 working days before the event will be returned as void and your activities will not be authorised.

If the police or environmental health object to a late TEN, the notice will not be valid and you cannot hold the event. You have no right to appeal this decision.

Personal licences and TENs

A maximum of:

  • 10 of your 50 notices can be late TENs if you have a personal licence
  • 2 of your 5 notices can be late TENs if you do not have a personal licence
