Temporary event notice objections and appeals

What happens if there are objections to your temporary event notice and how you can appeal a decision.

If there is an objection to your temporary event notice, a hearing of the Licensing Committee will be held.

The Licensing Committee consists of 10 elected local councillors. It will be held no later than 24 hours before the event unless all agree that a formal hearing is unnecessary.

The committee will either approve, add conditions or reject the notice based on the licensing objective of preventing crime and disorder.

Appeals

If you disagree with the Licensing Committee's decision, you can appeal to your local magistrates' court.

You must do this within 21 days, and at least 5 working days before the date of your event.
