Submit a building regulations application

How to apply for building regulations approval, including applications for building notices and full plans approval and urgent applications for straightforward building work.

You can either apply for a:

  • building notice
  • full plans submission

Building notice

Applying for a building notice is suitable for minor work on a single family house, such as a garage conversion or an extension. You do not need to submit any plans but you must be confident that the work being done will comply with building regulations.

You risk having to fix any issues after we have inspected if it is not correct.

Full plans submission

Applying for full plans submission means you need to submit detailed plans of the work you are doing. This method gives you the most protection.
